24"wide by 18"high Canvas Print of SADR Region IC1318

The SADR region, also known as IC 1318, is a complex of emission nebulae located in the Cygnus constellation. This region is often referred to as the "Sadr Region" due to its association with the bright star Sadr (Gamma Cygni), which is one of the stars that form the "Northern Cross" asterism in Cygnus. The Sadr region is a part of the larger Gamma Cygni Nebula complex.

The SADR region encompasses a vast area of space filled with interstellar gas and dust, which is illuminated and energized by the radiation from nearby hot stars, including Sadr itself. This radiation causes the gas to emit light at various wavelengths, creating the beautiful and intricate structures of emission nebulae. These nebulae are composed of ionized hydrogen (HII regions) and are often regions of active star formation.

The SADR region is known for its distinctive shape, which resembles a butterfly with outstretched wings. The "wings" of the butterfly are composed of filamentary structures of gas and dust that have been sculpted by the intense radiation and stellar winds from the young, massive stars within the nebula. These stars are often formed within the nebula itself, and their strong radiation ionizes the surrounding gas, causing it to glow.

The SADR region is a popular target for astrophotographers and astronomers due to its intricate details and stunning colors. The combination of the bright star Sadr, the intricate nebular structures, and the surrounding interstellar environment makes the SADR region a captivating and visually appealing part of the night sky.

This photo of the SADR Region IC 1318 represents three (3) evenings of capturing protons. Combining 343 three (3) minute exposures for a total integration time of 17.15 hours. My target was 18 hours, however, some images were lost due to clouds, satellites, and airplanes. SADR the beautiful bright turquoise star in the middle of the image is an attention getter. Surrounded by hydrogen and other gas clouds that help accent this amazing image. It may not have all the contrast of some other nebulas, but there is something about SADR that make it stand out. Astronomy photography requires specialized equipment, more work, more editing, and a lot of patience. Where God guides, he provides.

Containing Bible verse Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread of them: for it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.
